AFTER MORE THAN A DECADE, MANGA STADIUM REACHES 85% COMPLETION AS NYAMIRA MCAS DEMAND OPERATIONAL PLAN Nyamira, Aug. 5.

Sports Committee Chairman Jeremiah Ongaro tabled a progress report confirming the advance. Assembly Spokesman Thadeus Nyabaro verified the update as Members of the County Assembly expressed surprise at the progress and called for clear plans to ensure the facility finally becomes operational.

The multi-million-shilling upgrade, initiated by the Nyamira County Government in 2014, has yet to start functioning despite an expenditure exceeding Sh109 million over the years. The project sits on approximately four hectares (about eight acres) and includes:

- A graded football pitch and running track  
- A main pavilion/VIP area and tiered spectator stands designed to hold thousands of fans  
- A security perimeter wall  
- An on-site borehole for water supply  



Lawmakers noted that while construction has advanced significantly, the stadium remains unused. A section of MCAs stressed the urgent need for an operational plan covering remaining works, handover, management, maintenance and programming so the facility can begin serving local teams, schools and the community.



The report marks the latest milestone in a project that has faced prolonged stoppages, funding challenges and contractor issues since its launch more than a decade ago. The county executive is now expected to outline concrete steps to bring Manga Stadium into full use.
