Residents of Bonyandieka village in Bosoti, Sengera Ward, are demanding justice following the death of James Bogita, who succumbed to injuries sustained after he was allegedly attacked by unknown assailants.

According to residents, Bogita was ambushed and brutally hacked with pangas under unclear circumstances, suffering severe head injuries. He was rushed to hospital for treatment but later died while receiving medical care.

Recounting the incident, a relative said Bogita had been walking home from Mogonga when he was attacked about 700 metres from his residence.
"He was coming from Mogonga heading home when he was attacked about 700 metres from our home. The attackers slashed him twice on the head with pangas. After the attack, we heard him scream three times as he called for help. He managed to escape from the attackers and ran towards a nearby homestead before reaching our compound. He kept saying, 'Mama, I'm dying.' He had lost so much blood that it was difficult to recognize him."

The relative said the family only learned of the attack after a neighbour came to alert them.
"At around 8 p.m., someone knocked on our door and told us, 'Come quickly, your relative has been attacked.' We rushed outside and found Bogita lying on the ground near our home. We carried him to the roadside, where we found transport and took him to Ogembo Hospital. He received first aid and was referred to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital. However, on our way we learned that nurses were on strike, so we diverted to Christamarian Hospital, but there were no available beds. We then went to RAM Hospital, where we were referred to Nyangena Hospital. Sadly, by the time we arrived at Nyangena, he had already died."

The incident has plunged the village into mourning, with residents calling on security agencies to expedite investigations, arrest those responsible, and ensure justice is served.

Police have launched investigations into the killing as detectives seek to establish the motive behind the attack and identify those responsible.
This version places the attack first, then Bogita's escape, the family's discovery, and finally the efforts to seek medical treatment, making the narrative easier to follow.
