MOSIRIA URGES SAMIA TO ACT AFTER TANZANIAN BOY FOUND BEGGING IN KILIMANI

Nairobi County Chief Officer Geoffrey Mosiria has appealed to Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan to intervene following his encounter with a young Tanzanian boy begging in Kilimani, Nairobi.

Mosiria said he met a boy whom he identified as Jacob from Mwanza, Tanzania, while he was begging on the streets of Kilimani on Monday, September 28, 2026.

In a video shared on TikTok, Mosiria alleged that some Tanzanian children are brought into Nairobi and deployed to different streets to beg before being collected later in the day. 

The county official described the alleged practice as exploitation of children and warned those he referred to as “cartels” against using minors to solicit money on the streets.

Mosiria directly addressed the boy and asked him to deliver a message to the person who allegedly brought him to Nairobi, saying authorities would pursue those responsible.

He also appealed to President Samia to send Tanzanian officials and diplomatic representatives to Kenya to help investigate the allegations.

Mosiria claimed he was willing to assist Tanzanian officials in identifying locations where some of the children are allegedly kept before being taken to the streets.

However, the allegations of organised trafficking and the existence of a network transporting children from Tanzania to Nairobi have not been independently established in the report. They remain claims made by Mosiria.

The incident has renewed attention on the welfare of children involved in street begging and the need for authorities to investigate any possible exploitation or trafficking of minors.
