TRAGEDY IN NYAMIRA: 19-YEAR-OLD KEMASARE LEARNER CLINTON ONSOMU FOUND DEAD IN SASATI RIVER

Clinton Onsomu left home to attend a funeral night vigil but never returned. His body was later discovered in the river, bound, raising immediate questions about what happened to him after he departed the gathering.

According to his mother, Cicilia, the family became increasingly worried when Onsomu failed to come home following the vigil. She said the discovery of his body left them devastated, particularly because she believed her son had been making efforts to change his ways.

Cicilia acknowledged that Onsomu had previously been associated with allegations of theft during his earlier years. However, she insisted that she had noticed a significant improvement in his behaviour in recent times and that he had distanced himself from the activities that had once drawn community concern.

She further revealed that Onsomu had recently been accused of stealing a neighbour’s goat. The allegation led to his arrest and detention at a police station as officers investigated whether he was responsible. Cicilia said her son was later released after investigators found insufficient evidence to link him to the alleged theft.

The circumstances surrounding Onsomu’s death remain unclear. Residents have expressed shock at the discovery of the body in the river and the fact that he had reportedly been tied up. Some have called for thorough investigations to establish the sequence of events after he left the funeral vigil, including who may have restrained him and how he ended up in the water.
