MASENO POLICE ARREST TWO, RECOVER 11 STOLEN LAPTOPS IN REPAIR SHOP SWEEP

 Police in Maseno have arrested two suspects and recovered eleven laptops and three mobile phones believed to have been stolen.

The arrests followed a report made at Maseno Police Station after a university student reported that his laptop had been stolen from his hostel room on September 10, 2026.

Investigations traced the stolen laptop to an electronics repair shop in Maseno Township, where the complainant, accompanied by police officers, positively identified the device.

Police questioned the shop owner, who said he had purchased the laptop from another person. The owner, acting on police instructions, contacted the seller and lured him back to the shop, where officers arrested him.

A search of the suspect led to the recovery of another laptop and a mobile phone, which were later confirmed to belong to a university student who had also reported a theft.

Police subsequently searched the repair shop and recovered ten additional laptops and two mobile phones. The shop owner was unable to provide a satisfactory account of how he had obtained the devices.

The two suspects remain in custody at Maseno Police Station pending arraignment, while the recovered electronic devices have been documented and preserved as exhibits.

Police have urged members of the public to exercise caution when purchasing second-hand electronic devices and to ensure that sellers provide legitimate proof of ownership.
