TRAGEDY AS DREAMLINE BUS PASSENGER DIES IN EARLY-MORNING CRASH ON NAIROBI-MOMBASA HIGHWAY

 One person has been confirmed dead and several others injured after a Dreamline Express passenger bus rammed into a trailer along the Mackinnon Road–Taru stretch of the Nairobi–Mombasa Highway early today, September 23, 2026.

The dawn accident involved a Mombasa-bound Dreamline bus, registration number KDY 404L, which crashed heavily into the rear of a transit trailer, registration number KBS 609R.
Images and witness reports from the scene showed severe impact damage to the entire front left side of the passenger bus, where the fatality is believed to have occurred.

Police and emergency rescue teams rushed to the site shortly after the crash to extricate passengers trapped in the wreckage.

 Authorities confirmed that one person died on the spot from injuries sustained during the high-impact collision.
Several other passengers sustained varying degrees of injuries and were evacuated to nearby medical facilities for urgent treatment.

The accident caused a temporary traffic snarl-up along the critical transport corridor as highway police worked to clear the mangled bus from the road.
Investigations have been launched to determine the exact cause of the crash, with authorities once again urging long-distance drivers to exercise caution and maintain safe braking distances, especially during early-morning hours.
